What is LunarArc?

LunarArc is a modern, open-source Minecraft server implementation built for performance, stability, and compatibility. It aims to keep the feel of vanilla gameplay while pushing frame rates and server throughput to their limits.

What is the difference between Stable and Nightly Builds?

Stable releases are fully tested, tagged, and recommended for production servers. Nightly Builds come straight from every passing workflow and may contain unfinished changes.

Use Nightly Builds for testing and Stable releases when your server needs to stay up.

Which Minecraft versions are supported?

Minecraft version support varies by branch, but we generally support version 1.21.1 and higher.

How do I run a LunarArc server?

Download the build matching your Minecraft version and loader.
Run it with required java version that version of Minecraft needs.: java -jar lunararc.jar
Accept the eula.txt on first launch.

What are the system requirements?

LunarArc requires a minimum of 6 GB of RAM, with more recommended for larger modpacks. It is compatible with Linux, Windows, and macOS, and is optimized for multi-core processors.

Is there a way to contribute to this project?

Yes, we welcome all contributions! Whether you want to help update modloaders or fix community issues, we'd love your support. To get started, simply fork our repository, make your changes, and submit a Pull Request.

Which loaders does LunarArc support?

LunarArc ships builds for Forge, NeoForge, Fabric, and QuiltMC. Use the Loader column on the Downloads page to filter the branch you need. Every build is distributed as a ready to run ZIP archive.

What is the SHA-256 checksum for?

The SHA-256 checksum lets you verify that a downloaded file has not been corrupted or tampered with. After downloading, run:

shasum -a 256 lunararc.jar on macOS and Linux, or certutil -hashfile lunararc.jar SHA256 on Windows, and compare the result with the value shown on the Downloads page.

Can I use plugins or mods with LunarArc?

Yes. LunarArc supports both plugins and mods, depending on the loader you choose:

Fabric and QuiltMC loaders support mods.
Forge and NeoForge loaders support mods as well.

Compatibility may vary, so always test mods on a Nightly Build first.

How do I report a crash or bug?

Please include the following in your bug report:

Your Minecraft version and loader.
The build name from the Downloads page.
The full crash report or launcher logs.

This helps the team reproduce and fix issues much faster.

Why are there no GitHub Releases on the repo?

LunarArc currently publishes builds from its CI workflow only, which is why you will see Nightly Builds on the Downloads page. Nothing is released until it passes quality checks.

Are my worlds compatible if I switch servers?

Worlds are stored in the standard Minecraft format, so switching to a different server implementation keeps your worlds intact. We recommend backing up your world and eula.txt settings before migrating, especially when moving between major versions.

Can you backport to X version?

Backporting below 1.21.1 would require massive rewrites, so it isn't something we plan to do. However, if you need a solution for older versions, we highly recommend checking out Arclight

Will you be updating to the latest Minecraft version?

Yes! We actively maintain the project and aim to update to new major Minecraft releases as soon as the necessary modloaders and dependencies are stable enough to work on a higher version.
